Ireland and Northern Ireland have experienced near-total deforestation, with a staggering 99% of native forests cleared and only 11% restored to date. This has led to a loss of biodiversity, disrupted ecosystems, and triggered profound social, environmental, and economic challenges. At Caring Without Borders, we believe it’s time for change.
Through our global movement for socio-environmental and economic regeneration, we are transforming degraded spaces across Ireland and Northern Ireland into thriving ecosystems that benefit both people and wildlife. Together, we can bring harmony back to our shared home.
Our Vision for Ireland and Northern Ireland
Our vision is simple yet powerful: to restore and regenerate 50% of Ireland and Northern Ireland's landscapes, transforming them into flourishing, biodiverse habitats that support life, improve well-being, and inspire future generations.
Through collaboration with schools, communities, and local organisations, we are creating:
Food forests in public spaces to address food security and provide fresh, nutritious produce.
Pollinator-friendly gardens and alleyways to protect endangered species like bumblebees, butterflies, and dragonflies.
Educational initiatives that empower individuals to embrace regenerative living practices.
Community hubs that unite people around shared goals of environmental restoration and care.
What We’re Doing
Our projects across Ireland and Northern Ireland are focused on transforming degraded spaces into vibrant ecosystems that balance human needs with the health of the planet. Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
Schools: Partnering with local schools to plant trees, vegetables, and pollinator-friendly plants, creating both educational opportunities and biodiverse landscapes.
Urban Spaces: Restoring alleyways and other neglected public spaces by planting flowers, trees, and creating ponds to support local biodiversity.
Farms: Supporting farmers with regenerative design consultations to turn agricultural land into thriving ecosystems.
Community Projects: Mobilising individuals and families to keep and nurture trees and plants at home, multiplying resources until they are ready for larger-scale replanting.
